Objective


Define percent and convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages. Solve percent problems mentally with benchmark percentages.

  1. Define percent as a rate per 100.
  2. Convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages, including benchmark values and fractional percentages.
  3. Mentally solve percent problems by reasoning about benchmark fractions and percentages.

This lesson is approaching 7.RP.3 and reviews sixth-grade percent concepts that are foundational to this unit. This is a good opportunity to circle back to 7.NS.3 and incorporate problems involving operations with rational numbers.
