Tips for Teachers

?

  • Multiplying with decimals is a fluency expectation in sixth grade. Ensure students have opportunities to build towards fluency throughout the unit and the year. There are two quick Anchor Problems in this lesson in order to leave plenty of time for practice. Students can get further practice with this skill when they get to division with decimals; students can use multiplication to check their answers. See our Guide to Procedural Skill and Fluency for additional notes and strategies.
  • The following tools or materials are useful for this lesson: large graph or grid paper for computations, calculators to check answers.
