  • Today’s reading includes a description of a police shooting, a topic which your students may find upsetting and/or have strong opinions about. You may wish to discuss the differences between Dally’s death and the killings of unarmed black men by police.
  • Dally’s death can be considered “suicide by cop,” a situation in which a person deliberately engages in (threatening) behavior that they hope will provoke a police office to kill them. The linked text is for you to build your knowledge and should not be shared with students.
