Target Task

?

Plan a healthy and well-balanced breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Explain what is included in the meal and why it is a healthy meal.

Project Overview

?

  • Gather a lot of grocery store circulars so that students have a wide variety of images and foods to pick from, and create fake place mats for students.
  • Have students cut foods out of the circulars and glue them onto the place mats. Students should create place mats that show a balanced meal. Have students plan a balanced breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Have students explain WHY they are balanced meals.
  • On day two, have students write about WHY the meal they have created is considered a healthy, balanced meal using evidence from what they have learned throughout the unit.
